Bob
Balaban has over thirteen years of experience in the
general management, financing, marketing, and operations of companies
ranging from small start-up businesses to worldwide multi-billion dollar
corporations. Prior to joining IBG Business Services, Inc. in 1995,
Balaban successfully owned, managed, and sold companies in a variety of
industries, including software and information systems, sporting goods and
floral products.
Balaban's acquisitions background includes four years as a manager for a
wholesale distributor of computer products. Through strategic
acquisitions, this NYSE-listed company grew from $250 million to $3
billion in annual revenues in only four years.
Balaban's ownership experience gives him a firsthand understanding of the
steps involved in the successful start-up, purchase, financing, operation,
and sale of a mid-sized corporation. At IBG, Balaban specializes in
selling businesses with annual revenues of $2 million to $50 million.
Balaban enjoys the satisfaction he receives from helping his clients
achieve one of their most important goals:
"Selling a company is usually a
once-in-a-lifetime event in a business owner's career. I work hard not
only to protect my clients and ensure the safety of their investment, but
also to maximize the value of their business and exceed expectations."
Balaban received his undergraduate education from Duke University and North Dakota State University, and holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has previously achieved the status of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), and is a licensed Colorado real estate broker. Balaban has appeared in national business publications, including The Wall Street Journal, and on national television as an expert in the field of mergers and acquisitions. In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, skiing, watersports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and three sons.
